א בְּ רֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים, אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

| ב וְהָאָרֶץ, הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ, וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל-פְּנֵי תְהוֹם; וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים, מְרַחֶפֶת עַל-פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. ב וְהָאָרֶץ, הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ, וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל - פְּנֵי תְהוֹם; וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים, מְרַחֶפֶת עַל - פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. |
2 Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.
2 La tierra estaba desordenada y vacía, y las tinieblas estaban sobre la faz del abismo y el espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la faz de las aguas. |
| ג וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, יְהִי אוֹר; וַיְהִי-אוֹר. ג וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, יְהִי אוֹר; וַיְהִי - אוֹר. |
3 And God said: 'Let there be light.'
